It is becoming increasingly obvious - even to Americans - that the Iraq war is a personal affair, one of personal pride and interest.
All the bombs, cruelty, killings, murders, death, destruction, social unrest and abuse, because the President of America had an issue with the President of Iraq.
And now that he has been eliminated, it's still quite not finished yet – despite the fact that there were never weapons of mass destruction, no association with terrorism, not a scrap of a reason for a war.
But America is in it so deep, and cannot pull out now.
Because at this stage George W Bush and his Cabinet do not want to go down history as 'losers', and stopping the war now may show there was never really a point to all this.
Not a single one, to stand on
But then again. Would the President want to be remembered for walking all over American citizens, as well as all over the dead bodies of the thousands already lost?
When Saddam made his decisions alone, he was a tyrant. When Bush makes his decisions alone, is he seen as anything less?
Saddam was sentenced and hanged for being responsible for a far lesser number of deaths than Bush.
Or do Americans apply double standards, one rule at home, and one other rule in other people's countries?
Bush will be remembered if not as a tyrant, as a coward.
Someone who doesn't get his hands dirty, and disposes of other people's lives, tax payers' money and of the country democratic institutions to cause mass destruction of unprecedented proportions for his own personal business
Someone who is good at directing games from a distance.
Who never really knew what war is, who has never smelled it, nor seen it up close. Probably never been anywhere near a war zone.
Shiny shoes, well ironed suit, he sits in a comfortable chair at the White House and says 'when it comes to war I make decisions' .
Then he should definitely be recruited. Sent to the front without hesitation.
Wear the mimetic suit, pick up a weapon of choice, and 'march!' One, two, One, two.
Then, maybe he would give more informed, and more reasonable speeches.
Or should he perhaps wear his old boots and continue to give orders to the cattle in his ranch...
Maybe the National Security Council (does America have one btw?) should step in, and politely show this guy the way to the infirmery.
The last American President was indicted for a far lesser incident.
Another double standard there?
He will get the rest of the world blown up, if someone doesn't stop him.
America will never be able to turn back the clock, not on this war, nor on other wars, nor on other things. What's done is done. HOwever horrific.
But it can still pull together to find its conscience, and prevent future damage.
Maybe America will go down history as having elected (hmm..still questions there) another belligerant President who led the country into another very messy war.
But it will also be remembered for standing up against him, and against the madness of a leadership which is clearly out of control.
