Gauss and MDY Advanced Technologies, announced the first phase of a partnership to integrate VIP Enterprise, Gauss' Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software suite, with FileSurf, MDY's Electronic and Physical Records Management Software (RMS) certified under Version II of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) 5015.2 Standard.
Joint customers will be able to leverage VIP Enterprise to streamline operations by making content accessible for use across business processes, applications, and locations, while FileSurf enables them to reduce the costs of regulatory compliance by automatically classifying, retaining, and protecting this content as corporate records. Under the terms of the initial phase of the partnership agreement, Gauss and MDY will initiate joint marketing and sales efforts and introduce each other into their respective
customer bases.
The companies expect the integration of the two software solutions to be completed in early fall of 2003.
Gauss' VIP Enterprise provides integrated ECM software capabilities, including roduction-level document imaging, enterprise report management and archiving, workflow, Web content management, as well as enterprise portal integration capabilities. VIP Enterprise's integrated but modular architecture enables customers to lay the groundwork for an ECM strategy using a phased approach. While VIP Enterprise provides organizations with the ability to streamline operations for traditional paper-driven business processes, it has also provides the scalability and portal-ready architecture to meet the more complex requirements for delivering content through enterprise portals for organizations with distributed workforce requirements.
"It is critical to have mechanisms in place to identify the content sources that are candidates for potential litigation, discovery, government investigation, or audit," said Art Sarno, Gauss' VP of Strategic Alliances, "Partnering with MDY enables Gauss to offer RMS functionality to our customers, while providing them with our proven ability to capture, manage, and deliver their content through our core ECM competencies."
MDY's FileSurf RMS automates many of the manual processes of record keeping in order to save time and money, and empowers its end users through faster access to the right information at the right time. FileSurf is certified by the DoD 5015.2 (Version II) Standard for records management software, which is increasingly being adopted by corporations and professional services organizations in a wide variety of industries, and it is also compliant with Section 508.
The software manages the entire lifecycles of all kinds of records regardless of media types.
"Integrating ECM and RMS capabilities is an important initiative in many organizations, since the definition of a record is based on its content, not its data type. It could be paper, a scanned image, an electronic document, or email, and helping organizations make effective use of these content types is where Gauss excels," said Galina Datskovsky, Ph.D., CEO of MDY. "We feel that integrating FileSurf with VIP Enterprise gives us a competitive advantage in offering joint customers a solution that will enable them to achieve productivity gains while cost-effectively ensuring regulatory compliance."
