80-20 Software, a leader in enterprise content management, search, categorization and retrieval, today announced the release of 80-20 Document Manager for DB2, an enterprise scale content management system that helps businesses manage all types of content – email and email attachments, documents, Web pages, XML files, and rich media — using one common content platform and the IBM DB2 repository.
The new edition of 80-20 Document Manager uses IBM’s relational database product, DB2, to cut the storage requirements of corporations by up to fifty percent through removal of data duplication.
The company also recently partnered with IBM on a search
portlet for WebSphere,
signaling a departure from a previously exclusive relationship with Microsoft Corporation, it says.
80-20 Document Manager’s single instance storage system turns a relational database from a simple store into a viable management infrastructure for all enterprise data.
By creating and maintaining just one copy of every document, companies eradicate the duplication that causes most storage overload problems.
