Tridion is introducing a Portal Integration Framework, providing connectors for the major Portal platforms including IBM, BEA, Oracle, SAP, HummingBird, Plumtree, Microsoft, PeopleSoft, Corechange, Epicentric, ATG and iPlanet.
The Tridion Portal Connectors enable organisations to rapidly deploy content within Portal Servers and give users direct access to Tridion content management functions from within a Portal interface.
“Tridion and Portals are complementary applications that face opposite directions on the enterprise web site,” says Jouk Pleiter, President of Tridion. “The WCM system faces the input side, controlling who can create content for the site, how multiple authors collaborate and who approves their work.”
A Web Content Management system can determine how content will look and how it will be revised, protected, stored and delivered by a Web Server, Application Server or Portal Server. Portals perform similar tasks in reverse. Portals can control which user sees which content under what circumstances, and collect and configure content on demand.
Portals maintain a list of available content, know who controls it, the permissions required to access it, and the form and character that its authors have specified for its delivery.
