Ektron is bringing to market CMS200, a browser-based content management system for the Microsoft ASP platform aimed primarily at small to medium-sized organizations, entry price around $3K
Ektron CMS200 offers workflow and include simple template creation and management, file check-in/check-out control, content scheduling, site search, archiving and file management utilities.
The user interface is browser-based and the editing environment is actually eWebEditPro, a multi-language, browser-based WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) HTML editor.
It is a market-leading tool, claims the company, and through OEM relationships it has already been bundled into offerings from other CMS vendors like Eprise/Divine and Macromedia/Allaire.
Ektron also renamed its eMPower Express to CMS100, an entry-level CMS for the Microsoft ASP or Macromedia ColdFusion platform priced at $499.
Bill Rogers, CEO, says “Both Ektron CMS100 and CMS200 can be deployed by technical staff and used by non-technical business professionals.
Our challenge will be educating the market that, despite its $2,999 price, Ektron CMS200 is robust and customisable."
"With continuing pressure on companies to tighten budgets and continued merger/acquisition activity in the CM space, Ektron anticipates more companies, especially mid-sized businesses, will be evaluating lower-cost solutions." says company executive Beth Strohbusch
"Customers are taking a closer look at our technology because it, is far below the pricing of many other CM systems. Through our BETA program, we've heard repeatedly that CMS200 delivers a significant amount of features at a very affordable price point."
