FatWire Software, provider of strategic enterprise content management solutions, has announced the general availability of Content Server (CS) 5.5. The release contains DocLink, a new Content Server product that provides a simple interface for managing documents and digital assets, as well as significant enhancements in the areas of workflow, template creation, and platform support.
Content Server DocLink is the newest addition to the CS product suite. Content Server excels at managing and delivering all types of unstructured content. Now with DocLink, business users have a transparent interface for working with documents and digital assets, making it simple for even the most infrequent content contributors to participate in content management processes. DocLink is an extension to Windows Explorer that displays the Content Server hierarchy as folders within the familiar Windows Explorer interface. Users can add and update documents by dragging and dropping them between their local desktop folders and Content Server folders. Metadata can be added by prompting the user or by inheriting from parent nodes in the Content Server hierarchy. DocLink automatically invokes workflow processes, performs transformations, and utilizes all the underlying content services.
The new version of Content Server allows customers to greatly reduce site deployment time by allowing designers and developers to create and edit templates with Macromedia Dreamweaver. Site designers can compose templates from page blocks, and select and format asset attributes for display. For developers, Dreamweaver provides support for auto-completion of Content Server tags and insertion of tags using custom dialogs.
