Documentum, provider of enterprise content management (ECM), announces that it plans to offer support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux with Documentum 5, the latest version of the company's industry-leading ECM platform.
Widely recognised as the world's fastest growing server operating system, Linux continues to achieve rapid adoption across large enterprises in major industries, including financial services, retail and government. Documentum has joined the Red Hat Advanced Software Partner program to support its Linux development and support efforts.
Continuing its commitment to standards and to providing customers freedom of choice for operating platforms, Documentum's support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux will be made in a phased-approach, with Web application support available later this year. Linux continues to make major inroads in large enterprises for a variety of benefits, including cost, high performance and portability across most hardware platforms.
"Recent surveys list content management and Linux as two key priorities for CIOs, and by embracing Linux, Documentum continues to deliver relevant technology for today's demanding enterprises," said Marc Burckin, vice president of partner integrations for Documentum. "Documentum 5 demonstrates its broad platform support and extends its ECM leadership in porting to the Linux platform, helping our customers reap the benefits of cost-effective, high performance computing offered by Linux."
"Enterprises are standardizing on Red Hat Enterprise Linux due to the reliability, performance and cost advantages Linux has over proprietary operating systems," said Mike Evans, vice president of Channel Sales and Development for Red Hat. "As enterprise customers continue to expand their deployment of Linux, the commitment of market-leading application vendors, such as Documentum, is a welcome addition to the growing list of solutions available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux."
