Enterprise content management specialist Tridion is launching a range of products to help businesses address the growing problem of controlling content from and across multiple channels.
‘Tridion R5’ is a bundle of products enabling companies to create, manage, distribute and deliver all forms of content to any target source.
Through extensive use of the XML standard, the content can be created once and re-purposed to many online channels, such as the Internet and extranet, but also to offline channels such as print, explains the company.
"A strong element of customer feedback influenced the development of Tridion R5," said Jos Dikhoff, CEO at Tridion. "In an attempt to capitalise on their investment in content, many companies have been building customised connections between their back-end systems and publication channels like the Web. They hire more resources and develop their own in-house systems, resulting in ad-hoc and often departmental solutions that are not integrated and are expensive to maintain. Hence the term ‘content spaghetti’."
"Tridion R5 aims to solve this problem. By acting as a central content ‘hub’, connecting all sources and delivering to all targets, it will take care of the full lifecycle of content management, from creation to delivery. Enterprises should therefore benefit from the right content, in the right language, at the right time. This in turn will lead to faster decision-making, encourage knowledge-sharing and improve overall productivity."
Tridion has developed products for each stage of the enterprise content management process:
- Content creation. Tridion Client Connector enables users to create content with their preferred desktop application e.g. MS Office. Tridion Content Porter allows existing content to be imported and converted to XML, while Tridion Business Connector allows content from existing ERP, CRM or document management systems to be re-purposed.
- Content management. Tridion Content Manager manages the full lifecycle of the content. With in-depth use of XML and XML schemas, and supported by functionality such as workflow management and content classification, it allows information to be assembled and re-used in any combination. It also incorporates multi-lingual capabilities for international organisations.
- Content distribution. Tridion Content Distributor can dispatch content to any delivery platform and offers consistent, efficient and guaranteed multi-tier delivery.
- Content delivery. Tridion Web & Application Server Integration offers a solid delivery infrastructure to the leading Web and application servers. Tridion Portal Server Integration offers full integration with all major portal vendors, while Tridion Print Integration allows the production of customised print publications.
R5 products are scaleable to any number of users, promises the company, and are fast to implement and integrate easily with other systems, due to the use of open standards.
