Verity purchased software that executes searching of all email folders and local file systems to give users one access
point to information stored on their personal systems. In addition, it has enterprise-wide deployment, administration and control capabilities as well as compliance with most security protocols. The Verity-branded desktop search product is expected to become available to customers in the second half of 2005. It will integrate with Verity Ultraseek or K2 Enterprise software to allow users access to relevant content. As part of the acquisition, Verity will absorb 80-20's desktop search engineering resources. Existing 80-20 enterprise
desktop search customers will be served by Verity. 80-20 Software is exiting the Enterprise Desktop Search market in order to focus on its commitment to solutions for corporate governance, operational risk and compliance management.

www.verity.com
www.80-20.com/

</text><document_id>http://www.content-wire.com/search-engine-acquires-assets</document_id></node><node>
<pubname>Content Wire</pubname>
<categories>80-20 Software, asset management, asset management software, confidence, content acquisition, content analysis, content management,Content Management, content management software, content management solution, content management solutions, content syndication, content technology, current content,Day Software, demand technology, digital asset, digital asset management, document management, functionality,Information Management, information technology, management functionality, management requirements, management solutions, management technology, management vendors, match, regulatory compliance, research analyst, research firm,Serena Software, software vendors, syndication,Technology, technology research, technology solutions,workflow</categories><headline>Content Management On the Rise</headline><text>According to software evaluation firm TEC, significant increases has been tracked in customer demand for ECM selection projects, with numbers growing seven-fold since 2004. Over the next year, projections suggest that revenue in licensing for ECM will grow from 1,280.8 to 1,861.4 (millions of dollars, USD) through 2009. “Due to current governance and regulatory compliance regulations, ECM will become more and more important in order for organizations to be able to meet the requirements of these acts”, according to Hans Mercx, ECM and BPM analyst at TEC.

Research by The Standish Group shows that 52.7 percent of IT projects cost 189 percent of the original estimates. This represents $75 billion (USD) yearly that is spent on failed IT projects in the United States alone (2005). Organizations are losing billions of dollars each year because they select the wrong hardware, middleware, and software, which is due to inadequate vendor information and evaluation processes. Such losses are increasingly apparent within price-sensitive, small and medium enterprises, which require accurate IT information to be collected quickly and cost-effectively during software evaluation processes.

According to TEC, solutions for ECM, ERP, CRM, or SCM may fail to accomplish what customers want, because customers did not begin their selection processes with a good understanding of their requirements. TEC believes that problems arise when customers do not prepare a proper request for information (RFI) to evaluate the pertinent responses from their shortlisted vendors. However, TEC states that its sophisticated means for performing requirements analysis will ease customers' selection burdens.

The TEC ECM Evaluation Center aims to support end users to match their requirements to the functionality provided by a variety of ECM solutions. Organizations can use the center to analyze vendors on approximately 1,200 criteria covering ECM functionality. Vendors presenting solutions for comparison include 80-20, AMCO, CentricMinds, Crown Peak, Day Software, Emojo, Hannon Hill, iUpload, Kentico, Numotion, Serena, SilkRoad technology, Stellent, and Snakeware. The TEC ECM Evaluation Center (http://www.ecmevaluation.com/press) covers a broad range of features from content acquisition, approval and syndication, to document management, record management, digital asset management, workflow, and publication of the actual content.

www.technologyevaluation.com/press.
</text><document_id>http://www.content-wire.com/content-management-rise</document_id></node><node>
<pubname>Content Wire</pubname>
<categories>80-20 Software,b2b,categorization,categorization software,Companies,content infrastructure,content management,Content Management,content management infrastructure,content management platform,content management software,content management system,content repository,corporations,data management,Data Management,database management,document management,email,enterprise content,enterprise content management,enterprise search,Enterprise Web,IBM,infrastructure,infrastructure software,management infrastructure,management platform,management product,management requirements,Media,Microsoft,new data,new product,new release,relational database,relationship,relationship management,repository,rich media,rich media content,search software,simultaneously,software platform,web content,web content management,web content management system,web pages,XML,XML content management</categories><headline>Common Content Platform for DB2 Repository</headline><text>80-20 Software, a leader in enterprise content management, search, categorization and retrieval, today announced the release of 80-20 Document Manager for DB2, an enterprise scale content management system that helps businesses manage all types of content – email and email attachments, documents, Web pages, XML files, and rich media — using one common content platform and the IBM DB2 repository.

The new edition of 80-20 Document Manager uses IBM’s relational database product, DB2, to cut the storage requirements of corporations by up to fifty percent through removal of data duplication.

The company also recently partnered with IBM on a search
portlet for WebSphere,
signaling a departure from a previously exclusive relationship with Microsoft Corporation, it says.

80-20 Document Manager’s single instance storage system turns a relational database from a simple store into a viable management infrastructure for all enterprise data.

By creating and maintaining just one copy of every document, companies eradicate the duplication that causes most storage overload problems.</text><document_id>http://www.content-wire.com/common-content-platform-db2-repository</document_id></node><node>
<pubname>Content Wire</pubname>
<categories>80-20 Software, categorization, categorization software,Companies,Day Software, help companies,IBM,information portal, information retrieval, information technology, knowledge workers, metrics, patent, patented technology,People, productivity, significantly, target market,Technology, technology companies</categories><headline>Retrieval Portlet For Software Portal</headline><text>80-20 Software, a leader in information retrieval has released its Retriever portal application, or "portlet" for the IBM WebSphere Portal.

Companies that have employed the IBM WebSphere Portal can realize higher returns on their existing portal investment by implementing Retriever and increasing employee productivity by up to two hours a day.
