Brulant will offer implementation services for Percussion's Rhythmyx 5 Enterprise Content Management (ECM) System to its growing roster of customers with comprehensive content management requirements.

Brulant and Percussion worked together previously in the worldwide implementation of Rhythmyx for ICI Paints, successfully meeting ICI's tight timeframe that required 16 of the company's 50 regional Web sites to be
converted to Rhythmyx within 90 days. For that engagement, Brulant was responsible for the project's overall configuration management, for developing ICI's North America Web sites, and for taking work performed by
other regional system integrators and incorporating it into the ICI Paints' centralized live Web production environment. Brulant also managed ICI's migration to Rhythmyx from a previous content management system.

Brulant's partnership with Percussion will enable it to design, develop and deliver sophisticated content management solutions more easily for clients' Web sites, intranets, extranets, document management applications, enterprise portals and more. Rhythmyx's capabilities, including De-Coupled Delivery, Active Assembly and Intelligent Relationships, its foundation on industry standards and ability to run natively on a variety of server and database platforms, will enable Brulant's customers to enjoy a new level of flexibility in solving their ECM needs.</text><document_id>http://www.content-wire.com/expanded-enterprise-content-management-solutions</document_id></node><node>
<pubname>Content Wire</pubname>
<categories>advanced technology,aggregators,application development,architectures,Business,business applications,business development,business information,business partners,business users,chief executive,Companies,customer relationship management,data access,data management,Data Management,data services,database management,decision support,decisions,developer community,Development,development infrastructure,development time,efficiencies,email,enterprise applications,enterprise systems,global provider,global technology,help companies,Information Management,information technology,infrastructure,infrastructure software,leading technology,life science,management application,management applications,management capabilities,management infrastructure,management market,management platform,management product,management technology,market research,money,operating systems,patented technology,relational database,relationship,relationship management,relationships,research and development,rich applications,science,server market,software applications,software platform,Technology,technology allows,technology companies,technology platform,technology provider,technology research,time and money,time to market,users experience,vice president,World</categories><headline>Object relational (O/Rmapping for faster query-intensive applications)</headline><text>Persistence Software, the leading provider of distributed data management software technology, announces longtime customer, Applied Biosystems Group, an Applera Corporation business, has extended their relationship and use of Persistence
PowerTier Application Server for C++.

Applied Biosystems, a developer of instrument-based systems, reagents, software, and contract services to the life science industry and research community,
has been a customer since June 1998 and recently extended its licensing agreement with Persistence to continue support for three of
its genetic analyzer products: ABI PRISM 3100 Genetic Analyzer, ABI PRISM 3700 DNA Analyzer, and ABI PRISM 3100-Avant Genetic Analyzer.

Persistence's patented object relational (O/R) mapping and cache synchronization technologies, help to reduce inefficiencies in query-intensive applications -- speeding responsiveness and freeing capacity throughout the infrastructure to serve more users or offer
more services.

The use of Persistence's technology contributed to a
reduction of time to market for Applied Biosystems' genetic analyzers.

The ABI PRISM(R) 3700 DNA Analyzer is a fully automated instrument designed for use in production-scale DNA analysis.

It can automatically analyze multiple runs of 96 samples, which enables 24-hour unattended operation.

The ABI PRISM 3100 Genetic Analyzer is a fully automated, multiple-capillary electrophoresis platform that can simultaneously analyze 16 samples.

"By employing Persistence's technology in our genetic analysis software, Applied Biosystems has saved software product development
time and money" said Michael L. Details were published in an update of a DOH task force report.

The co-funded work will lead to a faster understanding about drug and disease processes, and thereby lead to more avenues of research and faster development of new drugs. It will also allow studies across classes of drugs so that the clinical trial process is speeded up.

Lord Hunt said "This will enable joint funding of clinical research, including clinical trials that are important to the industry, the NHS and most importantly to its patients."

Dr Tom McKillop, Chief Executive of AstraZeneca, who co-chaired the task force commented "This provides an excellent basis for continued co-operation with Government on clinical research matters in this country."

The partnership rests upon the shared aim of upholding the standards in the Research Governance Framework published by the Department last year, and the requirements and ethical arrangements of the EU Directive on clinical trials (Directive 2001-20-EU).

www.doh.gov.uk
www.abpi.org.uk

Advert:YOUR WEBSITE CONTENT STRATEGY STARTS HERE
</text><document_id>http://www.content-wire.com/uk-health-minister-announces-new-research-partnership-pharmaceutical-industry</document_id></node><node>
<pubname>Content Wire</pubname>
<categories>adoption,aggregators,benefit,browser,Companies,computer,computer systems,current market,data management,Data Management,Day Software,document management,effective communication,EVER,high speed,IBM,Information Management,information technology,innovation,integration software,Internet,internet,management applications,management capabilities,management market,management product,management solutions,management technology,management tools,management vendors,mobile data,mobile devices,mobile phones,moving away,new data,new generation,new product,new technology,next generation,People,product integration,profiles,promises,real estate,real time,sectors,software applications,software vendors,Technology,technology companies,technology integration,technology solutions,time to market,user interface,user profiles,vice president,web applications,web managers,web users,wireless data,wireless industry,wireless solutions,wireless technologies</categories><headline>Profound Changes Coming in the Way We Work</headline><text>While the economic slowdown may be curbing innovation in some sectors, several exciting new technology advances might be the "next big thing" that will dramatically alter the way we work, according to Giga Group.

From giant steps in wireless capabilities and Web browsing through voice command to sleek new designs for PCs and secure mobility that integrates mobile management software with mobile security software say the analysts
"Every few years, the communications industry goes through a paradigm shift as a result of a product that causes people to do things in a completely different way" said Giga Vice President Stan Schatt.

"When people realized they could use inexpensive laser printers to do what they had paid outside printers to do, a new industry was born."
Technology advances on the horizon that Giga predicts might be the "next big thing" include:

The Post-Modern PC: Sleek, powerful, easier-to-use systems that might cause future computer users to view our generation of tools the way today's drivers view Henry Ford's Model T. "As performance has become less important, desktop real estate more dear and Apple more visible, the move to differentiation through design is moving to companies like Dell and Gateway," says Giga Vice President Rob Enderle. "IBM's prototype Meta Pad, the Tablet PC and emerging companies like ClearCube have all helped compel the market to look beyond the `ugly white box."

Voice browsing: Voice is the most natural and convenient form of communication, but it is not commonly linked to data applications. A voice user interface (VUI) communicates with the Web in much the same manner as a PC, and is well suited for mobile situations that are transaction-based. Giga believes the high growth in the mobile work force and emergence of multi-modal applications will accelerate the adoption of the voice Web interface as the alternative browser. "Imagine navigating the Internet without ever having to touch a computer," says Giga Director Elizabeth Herrell. "Voice browsing will increasingly be used by the mobile work force to acces

s company information, such as customer data or technical information."

Giant steps for wireless: Ultra wideband (UWB) wireless promises speeds up to 100Mbps, the ability to look through walls and to coexist with current wireless technologies without interference. It has numerous benefits, including: It uses very low power so it could replace Bluetooth some day for cell phones; it is potentially less expensive since the technology is far less complex; it offers a quantum increase in speed over competing technologies; it will not interfere with other broadcasts because of its short bursts and frequency hopping; and it can penetrate walls and other objects, making it an ideal security tool. "During the next two years there will be a flood of security-oriented devices that use UWB technology," said Schatt. "Within the next several years, this technology might even invade 3G's cellular domain and 802.11's hot spot domain."

Secure mobility: Integration of mobile management software with mobile security software will bring some software vendors great success, and others extinction. Currently, organizations deploying mobile solutions must choose from incompatible management and security offerings from different vendors, which are designed to address different needs. "Deploying two solutions that are not integrated means IT managers have to spend more time actively managing users, applications, devices and security profiles," said Giga Vice President Steve Hunt. "Users moved between groups within an organization have to be manually reconfigured, and management software lacks the ability to enforce passwords and effective password usage on mobile devices." Giga anticipates at least two offerings from security-focused vendors will be available by late 2002, which, if successful, could cause a shift in buying patterns away from traditional synch or management-only vendors.
</text><document_id>http://www.content-wire.com/profound-changes-coming-way-we-work</document_id></node><node>
<pubname>Content Wire</pubname>
<categories>acquired,aggregators,Business,business content,business information,business solutions,Companies,content creation,Content Technologies,content technology,current content,global content,global news,global technology,information technology,leading technology,news content,novel,protocols,Technology,technology companies,technology solutions,vice president</categories><headline>Content Giant Acquires Partner</headline><text>Thomson, the content and technology company quoted on Paris Euronext and NYSE,
has formally acquired the Grass Valley Group, a privately held company headquartered in Nevada City, California in a transaction valued approx USD 172 million.

By combining the products, technologies, and services of the Grass Valley Group with those of its Broadcast Solutions business, Thomson says it becomes one of the leading providers of digital content creation, production, and distribution systems to news, information, and entertainment companies worldwide.

Marc Valentin, Vice President of the Broadcast Solutions business of Thomson, says "Our current and future customers can now rely on a truly unique end-to-end product portfolio and an unrivaled global support organization."</text><document_id>http://www.content-wire.com/content-giant-acquires-partner</document_id></node><node>
<pubname>Content Wire</pubname>
<categories>access control,access digital,accommodate,adoption,aggregators,application developers,application development,application tools,asset management,assets,assets management,Business,business applications,business content,business development,business functions,business information,business process,business process management,business processes,business user,business users,categorization,Companies,content integration,content management,Content Management,content management application,content management applications,content management capabilities,content management platform,content management system,content management tools,Development,development time,development tools,digital asset,digital asset management,digital assets,Digital Assets Management,digital publishing,dynamic content,dynamic content management,enterprise applications,enterprise content,enterprise content management,Enterprise Web,information assets,Information Management,integration platform,knowledge management,Knowledge Management,knowledge workers,lifecycle,management application,management applications,management capabilities,management market,management platform,management product,management tools,management vendors,market opportunity,multilingual,multilingual content,multilingual support,one of the few,personalization,product integration,real time,system integration,time to market,web applications,web content,web content management,web content management system,web users,workflow</categories><headline>Content Management Wish List</headline><text>I have a dream, says analyst

5 February 2002

It is unlikely that any content management system can manage more than a select few items from an ideal list of desirable features, and accommodate for flexible and universal fulfilment of all content management roles, from Authoring, to code control and administrative functions

Far-seeing enterprises are forced to assemble a collection of separate applications from separate vendors, like beads on a string, says Susan Feldman, analyst at IDC.

“Aside from the undoubted pain and expense of integration, this approach is rife with minefields for the future user. Compatibility in complex processes is always a concern. Integration among
different tools is never guaranteed. A complete Web content management application must be a single architectural platform that is designed for content ingestion, process control, versioning, and management capabilities for code development, build release, code release, workflow, and information access. It must allow developers and administrators and business users to manage the entire content lifecycle, including a company’s enterprise digital assets, regardless of platform or application”

Expecting one single vendor to produce a set of tools that can handle every feature on the wish list is completely unrealistic, and it is unclear what the demand (or the price) would be for such a product if it were available for sale.

“The main problem is that a product designed for knowledge workers
would probably be too difficult for nontechnical contributors to use. A product that is simple enough for a nontechnical contributor to
use would likely not have the sophistication required by technical developers. There are companies that have integrated code and
content management products with those from other companies with a mixed degree of success. Perhaps the market isn't ready for
this level of sophistication in code and content management
tools. Or perhaps this is an opportunity in the making”

But it is only following dreams that visions come true.

Here is IDC’s ideal content management features, for those who dare ask for more from their suppliers:

Authoring Features

Developers Tools

Administrative Tools

Categorization

Security

Workflow

Task assignment and alerting

Design Tools

Staging

Dynamic assembly of documents in real time

Platform independent Access

Ease of use

Support for distributed development teams

Change Management

Scalability

Personalization features

Multilingual support

Multichannel publishing
</text><document_id>http://www.content-wire.com/content-management-wish-list</document_id></node><node>
<pubname>Content Wire</pubname>
<categories>aggregators,automation,browser,central repository,collaborative content,content creation,content creators,content management,Content Management,content management platform,content management software,content management solutions,content repository,content technology,creators,email,FatWire,FatWire,functionality,images,incumbent,management environment,management functionality,management platform,management product,management solutions,management technology,Media,media publishing,new generation,new product,new technology,next generation,partnership,passwords,repository,software platform,Technology,technology allows,technology platform,technology solutions,web based,web content,web content management,workflow</categories><headline>Next Generation Content Management Partnership</headline><text>
Deep Bridge does it with Fatwire

30 October 2001

ObjectBridge is a media independent publishing platform developed by DeepBridge Content Solutions in conjunction with FatWire Software,

In addition to serving as a Media-Independent Publishing platform, the new product provides the core functionality of FatWire UpdateEngine,
ObjectBridge offers

Automated Approval Process – Instead of being forced through traditional approval channels, where one person is responsible for the work of many, the technology identifies multiple approval sources, allowing content creators to get content approved, triggering automated workflow advancement and final production in a more efficient manner;

Browser Based Workflow Automation – which allows workflow automation processes to be established and accessed through an Web browser;

Centralized Content Repository – Content, which previously would be stored on individual workstations, is now housed in a central content location. There is nothing new to be learnt from this group of startups. A certain arrogance towards the traditional and big media
companies was a natural limit of their reach.

There has been a great deal of misjudging the market, which suddenly and
unexpectedly disappeared, creating massive financial tension among startups. Most of their revenue was supposed to be generated by percentages of content sales for the service.

Inexperienced management and big egos did not help either.

A few players are currently operating in the Germany,

What’s next?

Those companies who have the stamina to survive the current (content-) business slowdown will enjoy a consolidated market with fewer players.

A German content market of the future can sustain one or two independent national content syndicators, maybe in a European network and
also one or two international content syndicators. But not twenty national syndicator, as it happened in 2000.

The surviving companies will have to leverage, in addition to straightforward content syndication 'services' , their technology expertise with new tools and content exchange protocols like XML and ICE and will have to create added value for the content they re-sell by offering personalisation,
filtering and other technology based services.

Marco Versace is an ex-Founder 4Content-The Content Broker

Now at www.letscross.de, an online game startup</text><document_id>http://www.content-wire.com/content-syndication-germany-no-lessons-be-learnt</document_id></node></xml>
