Slowdown hits exhibition organisers, Arthur Graaff reports
30 November 2001
The German mCommerce World fair has shut its doors Wednesday - for good.
Another victim of the bubble that has burst, especially since mCommerce leans so heavily on the next generation of mobile communications.
Too little news, too little visitors the organizers, Communic, said.
And even GPRS is not there yet, while UMTS is seriously in doubt. NTT Docomo's iMode has lacked lustre since its mother ran deep into red. The
same picture for the Dutch Internet in Business, or Smart Business in Amsterdam, combined with a mobile fair: very few visitors.
The earlier German Systems last month fair already suffered from the 11/9-effect
and several German ICT-observers believe the effect is
long lasting.
The Germans will reassemble next year into five combined fairs adjacent to the Intenet Wolrd, namely from 4 to 6 June 2002: Streaming Media Germany, ISPCON/ASPCON, Mobile World and Call Center Trends.
