IBM last month acquired Green Pasture Software, a privately held provider of document management software based in Corvallis, Oregon.
Green Pasture Software enables businesses to take advantage of real-time, high-performance document management capabilities to electronically collaborate, edit and manage multiple documents simultaneously.
Such documents include spreadsheets, multimedia files and computer aided design (CAD) references, which may be used in financial reports and product manuals.
Green Pasture's operations are to be integrated into IBM's Enterprise Content Management business and Green Pasture products will be available immediately from IBM.
The purchase helps IBM position enterprise content management (ECM) as a segment within its DB2 Information Management portfolio. The software is geared to help customers develop and corral their business documents from creation to disposal.
