The online content industry has been hoping to hear this news for a while now.
Over the last few months rumors that iSyndicate was going down were not denied by the company, but the prolonged silence and the lack of a formal announcement were suggesting that all hope was not lost.
According to sources they have been in talks with competitors, including Screamingmedia, looking for a lifeline.
Today, finally, Joel Maske is writing to content partners anticipating the good news.
Yellowbrix, a Virginia based company with a similar focus on content and content infrastructure services, is proposing to acquire iSyndicate's assets
The transaction is occurring via a Chapter XI bankruptcy filing for iSyndicate.
"As the Internet market has changed in the past twelve months, both iSyndicate and Yellowbrix increasingly focused their business strategies on serving larger and mid-sized companies who require content, content
management and content delivery solutions. The combination of the two companies brings together industry-leading technologies, two strong brands and management teams with a shared vision of the future" he writes
Together, Yellowbrix and iSyndicate serve more than 400 customers, over 300,000 affiliates and more than 100 strategic alliance and technology partners.
The companies intend to operate using both iSyndicate's platform and business model (provider-specific sale of content) and Yellowbrix's platform and business model (indexed, topically-organized content feeds).
