Applied Psychology Research partners with Convera
16 October 2001
Supplier user profiling and information management systems, Applied Psychology Research (APR) is partnering with a provider of advanced search and content management solutions Convera to create a solution that will allow users to personalise their searches
and automatically identify experts within their organisation.
Convera's RetrievalWare is a cross-lingual, multi-media solution using advanced pattern recognition and semantic network technologies to intelligently examine and understand the content of data held in 250 different file formats.
Its semantic network contains approximately 500,000
word meanings and 1.6 million word links, and it is able to recognise spelling mistakes in searches, focusing on word meaning and relationships to
locate suitable documents.
APR's Youmeus 'humanised' software specialises in understanding users with
proprietary technology.
The system generates dynamic profiles of users based on their explicit requirements, as well as on their implicit tastes and preferences, expressed through their behaviour
when interacting with systems and touchpoints.
The system identifies users' needs in terms of 'traits' - consistent personality characteristics - and 'states' - current, transient requirements
The deep profiles generated ensure that both types of needs are understood and that only the most relevant information is routed to users.
The result of the partnership is a product which provides organisations with competitive
advantage by maximising the effectiveness of both their retained information and their tacit knowledge, saving them time and optimising an
organisation's intellectual assets, says the company.
