Terra Lycos is launching a new finance research tool that allows users to retrieve complex information quickly and simply by entering natural language questions into a search box on the site.
The natural language query tool, powered by iPhrase, interprets users' questions and draws on the rich financial information and industry-leading charting capabilities of Lycos Finance to quickly deliver the desired information.
The natural language technology allows Lycos Finance users to ask questions in every day conversational language, as though speaking
with another person.
The system interprets the underlying meaning of the request, retrieves the most pertinent content available from multiple sources on Lycos Finance, and takes the user directly to an existing page or builds a new page just for that user.
The natural language tool is extremely forgiving of misspellings and sentence
structure, and provides feedback to the user repeating the question as the program interpreted it.
"Lycos Finance takes the work out of gathering investment information with this new search tool, allowing our users to focus on making decisions instead of sorting through Web pages and constructing tables and charts," says J. Stan Hjartberg, executive producer of Lycos Finance.
"Active traders can use this new search tool on Lycos Finance to decrease the time required to pull together the complex information they use to make financial decisions, while those users with less experience can use the tool as a way to level the playing
field and get deeper into the depths of information with a shorter learning curve."
