Last week Milan saw a new phenomena in industrial relations
29 January 2002
Last week workers of Virgilio.it, a well known search engine in Italy, were on strike in front of parent company Matrix offices, in Milan, reported Italian magazine publisher Ludovico via newsgroups.
Matrix recently decided to cut 100 employees out of 300.
It's the first public strike done by new economy workers in Italy, according to the source
The workers calls themselves 'Tute Arancioni' ('Orange suits', orange
is the corporate color of Virgilio.it), and now they have a website
"It could be the start of a different political consciousness among the many new economy
workers here" say commentators.
