RAD Data Communications, a leader in access solutions for carriers and enterprise networks, has announced version 3.1 of the Kilomux-2100/2104 sub-rate multiplexer.
The Kilomux-2100/2104 is designed to substantially improve the voice compression capabilities and reduce the price point for multiple channel voice applications.
The heart of RAD’s Compressed Voice System (CVS), it is now upgraded to support high quality voice compression of up to six T1/E1 links in a single, small-footprint chassis. Among the new modules offered with the Kilomux-2100/2104 are the KVF.6 module, which compresses a full T1/E1 trunk, enabling 180 voice channels to be compressed in a single Kilomux chassis, and the KVF.8 module, which compresses eight analog voice channels at selectable rates of 9.6 to 16 kbps.
(Content-wire takes their word for it).
“This product upgrade is significant to our carrier customers because it allows them to capture a very rapid return on investment,” says Motty Anavi, director of product management. “They can maximize voice quality, optimize leased line utilization, and reduce operational costs.”
He cited as an example “Compared to the previous version of this product, it now offers a 60% cost reduction and 80% space reduction.”
Since 1981, RAD has been a premier manufacturer and a technological pioneer in ATM, Frame Relay, ISDN, high-speed transmission over copper and fiber, voice compression, IP routing, and rate/interface conversion products.
