Yaga adds payment option
12 December 2001
Yaga, a peer-to-peer digital goods distribution network,
announced a pay-per-download option to complement its subscription service.
For content owners and publishers seeking to make their content available through the Yaga network, the pay-per-download option allows both Yaga subscribers and non-subscribers to download and purchase content through the Yaga network.
“As we continue to develop the Yaga marketplace, we recognize the importance of providing content owners with as much flexibility and control as possible so they can best determine how their content is distributed,“ says Chris Kitze, CEO
“With the combination of pay-per-download and subscription options, Yaga continues to lead the way in evolving its service to deliver the greatest competitive benefits to our publishers and end-users.”
Content owners can easily select if they want to make their content available on a pay-per-download basis or through Yaga’s subscription-based service through a single click option on the Yaga publishers’ page. Yaga publishers are allowed to determine the price which they wish to make their content available and have the option at any time to switch their content between pay-per-download and subscription. Yaga publishers also have the flexibility to offer preview samples of their content via the subscription service and offer the full-length file through the pay-per-download option, thus maximizing the sales potential of their content
"The incorporation of revenue streams for both content publishers and content distribution providers -- including subscription-based and pay-per-download -- is critical for establishing the Internet as a viable channel for digital entertainment," said Michael Hoch, senior analyst, Internet Infrastructure Group for Aberdeen. "By delivering a rich selection of content with flexible payment options, Yaga is helping to establish the next generation Internet.”
