NewspaperDirect, a technology company specializing in the digital delivery and printing of travel editions of newspapers from around the world, is now distributing newspapers to Qatar Airways at Doha International Airport.
The initiative is being implemented through NewspaperDirect’s new license partner Todaily, which will also make the service available to residents and visitors in United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar, as well as broaden sales outreach to other commercial airlines.
In launching the service, Qatar Airways is providing first-class and business class customers same-day, print versions from NewspaperDirect’s catalog of more than 170 newspaper titles. For each flight the airline selects an assortment of different newspaper titles based on the flight destination. The papers are printed at the airport before departure and delivered to passengers in-flight free of charge.
NewspaperDirect’s titles, ranging from Los Angeles Times and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung to Liberation and La Stampa, are digitally delivered outside of their original markets and laser-printed in an 11"x17" (A3) format. All of NewspaperDirect’s offerings are exact reproductions of the original printed editions, delivered in a more portable format. The service is currently available globally through NewspaperDirect’s network of international partners and licensees, including major hotel chains, cruise lines and retail outlets.
“In today’s competitive aviation industry, successful airlines recognize the importance of providing their most important passengers with added value services. The NewspaperDirect service delivers this to Qatar Airways passengers with an unprecedented in-flight selection of newspapers,” said NewspaperDirect VP of Sales and Marketing Richard K. Miller. “Our partnership with Todaily broadens the reach of our distribution network throughout the Middle East, and to the airline industry at large.”
