Computer Associates, (CA) announced eTrust Secure Content Management, a
solution for protecting organizations from the diverse dangers of the Internet -- including viruses, spam, and unacceptable use of the Web by employees.
Currently in beta testing, it is expected to be on release next autumn.
CA is addressing multiple security management challenges through a single solution. CA's eTrust Secure Content Management delivers significantly more effective security at a lower total cost of ownership than the multiple "point" solutions typically deployed at most companies.
eTrust Secure Content Management delivers on CA's vision of fully integrated, intelligently automated management and enforcement of security policies and practices across the enterprise, says the company.
In addition to virus screening, the eTrust Secure Content Management software will allow administrators to apply security policies to traffic flowing through HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) and FTP (File Transfer Protocol) connections. Companies can use the software to block those on their network from connecting to content such as pornographic Web sites, and can use customized search strings to monitor outgoing content such as e-mail.
The technology will be delivered exclusively through CA's network of channel partners.
