SoftCare developer of workflow solutions for the publishing industry, and makers of award winning K4 Publishing System, has formed a new technology partnership with Tansa Systems AS of Norway, provider of advanced text proofing tools available in several languages.
K4 allows functionality to be built around Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy.
Unlike other spelling checkers, Tansa proofreads content by looking at the words in context, making it capable of checking not only the spelling of words, but also the usage of words and the style of your writing. Tansa accomplishes this by checking your written text against a dictionary customized specifically for each publication.
The two companies have agreed to work together on an ongoing basis to ensure compatibility and interoperability between K4 Publishing System and Tansa Text Proofing System 3.
This cooperation will mean that current and future installations of K4 will be able to easily add Tansa's software to their editorial workflow. In addition, current Tansa customers in Europe, Scandinavia and North America who decide to purchase and install a K4 system from one of SoftCare's system integrators should be able to continue using Tansa without interruption.
"Newspaper and magazine publishers need to produce high-quality content for their readers at ever-increasing speed," says Niels Hufnagl, Product Manager at SoftCare. "Tansa brings centralized, content-sensitive spell-checking and hyphenation to Adobe InDesign. Working with centralized dictionaries and rules will give our customers an edge when it comes to meeting tight deadlines while ensuring consistent spelling. It is a pleasure for us to work with Tansa for the benefit of our joint customers."
Engineers from both companies have been working together for the last few months. The latest versions of both systems were tested for any possible integration issues. As a result of that work, both the Windows and Mac OS X releases of both systems have been certified as compatible.
