Broadcasting technology brings the news

Intrax, the Holland and Germany based SNG provider, reasserted itself as a leader in the broadcasting industry last Thursday when it established the largest number of transportable earth stations (TES) in The Hague to cover news of the Milosevic war crimes trial.
The six Intrax news trucks were among the first to begin broadcasting internationally from the Dutch tribunal for APTN and Reuters international news agencies, NOS, EBU and press conference facilities.
By the time Milosevic was on route to The Hague, the Intrax TES’ had already been on stand-by near the courts for six days, ready to run live as soon as the news was announced.
By linking with BT Broadcast Services’ own facilities in Hilversum, just outside Amsterdam, the company was ready to begin the distribution process within minutes, giving it a competitive advantage unequalled by its competitors.
"The importance of this trial is unparalleled around the world and anyone who has anything to do with news has a presence in The Hague at the moment," comments Paul Claydon, MD of Intrax. "This fact makes our ability to be the first on scene, as well as the biggest to be actively reporting, all the more important to us. To be able to add this level of reactive speed to our quality of offering, high levels of service and global influence make us second to none."
