An advancement in the fight to protect children from the perils of uncontrolled use of the Internet is announced by Nöstrad, a UK-based IT Asset Management and Security company.
Nöstrad developed eBlaster – a computer programme which can be discreetly installed into a home computer to report Internet usage.
eBlaster claims to be the first product in the world with such an extensive email monitoring capability in that it reports on incoming and outgoing emails to the target computer from web-based systems such as Hotmail, Yahoo and AOL.
“Parents all over the world are increasingly worried about the Internet and how to control their children, while still allowing them the freedom to enjoy the enormous benefits it can bring,” said Nöstrad Managing Director Mike Parr.
“They can now very cheaply have total peace of mind – knowing that eBlaster will let them know what their children are doing on the World Wide Web at any moment.”
The product, developed at Nöstrad’s Research and Development facilities in Lincolnshire, reports all Internet activity from a target computer – whether it be in the room next door or, for example, at a remote location hundreds of miles away – to a specific machine.
eBlaster offers the capability for parents to audit the target computer upon installation. This means that past Internet usage can be reported as well as setting the machine for future monitoring. The reporting even includes the computer’s specifications – allowing owners to check they have had delivered what was promised from their supplier.
eBlaster is downloadable and costs £59.99
