Detroit Diesel Corporation, a leader in design, manufacture, sale and service of heavy-duty diesel and alternative fuel engines, has selected Vasont by Progressive Technologies as its content management system to improve the efficiency and reduce the development time of its Series 60-engine's technical documentation.
The technical documentation of the Series 60-engine includes over 2000 pages in the Series 60 Service Manual and around 100 pages in the Operator's Guide, published both on the Web and in print format.
The company says it needs to maximize the content re-use of its technical documentation through a system which automatically updates content in all of its uses throughout the entire system once a user makes a change to the original content.
The technology stores content separately from tags enabling content to be created and managed in XML, SGML, HTML, and WML formats and instantly published across all media channels, including print, CD-ROM, Web, and wireless.
Several thousands copies of technical manuals are printed several times a year
The technology provides over 300 automated tasks, including
generating automatic e-mails, dynamic indexing, performing math calculations, automating workflow tasks, and content transformation which dynamically updates content throughout the entire system once a user makes a change to the original content.
