ScreamingMedia launched the latest version of its Web services infrastructure and announced it is also joining the OASIS Web Services for Remote Portals (WSRP) Technical Committee, a group of portal industry leaders charged with creating a standard that allows for the plug & play of content and applications from disparate sources.
ScreamingMedia has been in the business of providing Web services for many years by enabling the B2B exchange of information in XML format. The company’s latest version of its Web services infrastructure supports SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) and offers clients an easy, flexible way to access databases of content hosted by ScreamingMedia.
Like previous versions, the latest Web services infrastructure allows content to fully integrate into leading portal platforms from companies such as Plumtree, Citrix, BroadVision, BEA, Sun Microsystems, IBM, Oracle and ATG.
Alliances with Citrix and Sun
Citrix Systems and ScreamingMedia have signed an agreement giving Citrix NFuse Elite access portal server customers paid access to ScreamingMedia’s information services for the period of one year.
Citrix says it is the first portal software vendor to provide ScreamingMedia’s integration technology and content, which includes news feeds and stock quotes, with its core product – eliminating the need for customers to negotiate content pricing and integration on their own.
Screaming Media also announced that its web services infrastructure will fully support the Sun One Portal Server and architecture for web services.
Its integration technology leverages J2EE-based technologies and supports open standards such as Java, XML, XSLT and JDBC, facilitating easy, cost-effective integrations into existing and future business platforms like the Sun One Portal Server 6.0.
